A philanthropist and a compassionate public servant, Debra N. Gunter is the founder and president of the Yvonne McCalla Foundation Incorporated (YMF Inc.).

Debra is currently employed within New Jersey State Government as an Education Program Development Specialist where she served as the lead architect to integrate New Jersey State policies in the new training curriculum for foster parents.  In addition, Debra also has had the pleasure to assist in the development of competency based curricula for the New Jersey child welfare system under the Child Welfare Reform Plan. Debra currently delivers competency-based training programs for employees of The Division of Children and Families.  Furthermore, she worked as a therapist providing individual and group therapy to children and adults in the New York City child welfare system.

Debra is expanding on her career as a public speaker and embraces every opportunity to educate and motivate minority women of all ages on the importance of taking responsibility for their health.

Debra is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and a member of the Board of Directors of Candice’s Sickle Cell Fund Incorporated.  In addition, Debra is also a member of the Abundant Life Family Worship Church located in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Debra earned a Masters of Social Work degree from Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Social Science Interdisciplinary Studies from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
